Personal Review/Selection rationale: I initially heard about this book when a classmate reviewed it for our Children's Literature class. The author is local and although we have some of her books in our collection, we do not have this one. In addition, I like to highlight folk tales for my students as they are not a genre that is typically thought of as being "nonfiction." Also, this part of our collection is older(the average age of the 300s is 1992) and the folktale books that I pull off the shelf(anecdotal) seem to be at too high of a reading level, tired looking, or with too much text and not enough pictures for kindergarten through third graders. I am looking to update this section with books such as this - interesting, entertaining, appropriate reading level and illustrated. Also multi-cultural. This book has also reminded me about Peachtree Publishers, a local publishing company. I have always liked their books and am going to use the site to search for title suggestions.
