After weeks of practicing their KidPix skills, students finally created their houses complete with address number. Almost all of our students are official members of the "WP Address Club."
First Grade
To support their study of maps and globes, first graders were introduced to "Pebble Go," a fabulous, kid-friendly, online "encyclopedia." This is a subscription database that our school has purchased to begin teaching research skills. Students are welcome to use the product at home - please email Ms. Zeff for the login and password information. http://www.pebblego.com/login/
Second Grade
Students are finally ready to begin practicing their keyboarding skills at home. Please click here for a detailed letter explaining the program, how to access it at home, and how students should be using it at home. As the letter describes, if you are interested in using the program at home, you will need to submit some basic contact information. Third graders are receiving their "Google Driver's Licenses" which is their official, City Schools of Decatur login for Google applications. Although the login looks like an email address, they will not be able to use it for this purpose until middle school. In the meantime, however, there are other applications that can take advantage of this access to Google. The first we are using is the Typing Club, a keyboarding program. Students have been practicing logging in and typing using this program. They know how to get to the login page from the Media Center website. You may also click here - https://csdecatur.typingclub.com/. As your student will explain to you, their login name is fairly long but with practice, is getting easier to use.
An example is: 25kermitfrog@csdecatur.net. The first name and last name are your child's full name without hyphens, and it is not case sensitive. They can tell you what the "25" stands for. The password is "student12345" - the word "student" followed by their lunch number.
