Kindergarten - Kindergarten students met two creatures in the woods this week - a snowman and a baby deer. These books are beautifully illustrated by a husband and wife team who use nature photographs to tell their story. You can find out more about the books at the authors' website.
First Grade - After taking the STAR reading test last week, first graders went on a "Treasure Hunt" to find "just right" books in the library. Students also learned that their "just right" level is their own private business and possibly different from other students' levels. Some students looked on the yellow cart, some on the purple cart, some in the yellow bins and some in other places in the library.

Second Grade - Students either took the STAR reading assessment this week or listened to Pat Zietlow Miller's "Wherever You Go" which is reminiscent of Pat is also the author of Winnona Park favorite, "Sophie's Squash." We were introduced to her several years ago through her former neighbor, a Decatur resident and former Winnona Park parent.
Third Grade - Using Google Classroom, students joined a new, Media Center classroom that they will be using as a part of their Digital Citizenship unit. Students joined the classroom and then responded to a question about a favorite book. In addition to answering the question, they are also able to respond to other students' answers. We will be discussing, and modeling, how to leave appropriate comments, typing complete sentences, and what makes an appropriate, and thoughtful, comment. Students may leave thoughtful and appropriate responses and comments at home.
