As part of Ms. Zeff's "New Year's Book Resolution, this review could be the first of 52 reviews for 2016. Second and third graders each came up with their own resolution. My resolution was to read one kids' book per week this year. In addition, I am to write a short review as a way to share the books.
This book was about: A young boy growing up in family constantly struggling to find food and shelter. Crenshaw the Cat is his imaginary friend from earlier in his childhood who helps him through the hardest of times.
My favorite character: Jackson, the main character, really helps us to understand what it's like to be homeless and not have enough food to eat.
I liked this book because: It gave the reader a realistic idea of what homelessness is like and what it's like to not have enough to eat from a kid's perspective.
Other books by this author: "The One and Only Ivan" and the "Animorphs" series
