Kindergarten
In anticipation of a special project coming up as part of their Expedition, students used the "straight line" tool in KidPix to draw an outline of their house, a door and windows. This is not as easy as it looks because we were using this tool for the first time AND we were using the track pad, and not a mouse. If your student would like to practice drawing on the computer at home, I would suggest TuxPaint which can be found at http://www.tuxpaint.org/.
First Grade
Students were introduced to the keyboard and practiced typing the alphabet and their names using Microsoft Word. They learned about the bumps on the "F" and "J" keys, the home row, and that it was OK to "hunt and peck" for now. Besides the letters of the alphabet, we used the "Delete", "Enter/Return" and space bar keys. Please don't be surprised if your child wants to practice this at home - they really enjoyed it.
Second Grade
All second graders checked out books this week but most classes did not have regular lessons in the library due to their all-day field trip on Tuesday, as well as the need for teachers to jump back into a routine after the break. All students will start working on keyboarding skills next week.
Third Grade
All third graders checked out books this week but some classes did not have regular lessons in the library due to the third grade kick-off on Tuesday, as well as the need for teachers to jump back into a routine after the break. All students will start working on keyboarding skills next week.
