Personal Review/Selection rationale:
Although planets are not specifically addressed in the standards for grades kindergarten through third grade, they are a subject that students are still interested in learning about. A non-fiction book at a reading level accessible to K - 3 students is a priority and to find an interesting book by a reputable publisher such as National Geographic is unusual. On my recent trip to Rochester, I noticed that a number of the science-themed books in their Resource Room were published by National Geographic.
