Plot Summary: The author describes 16 different animals and how they use bubbles in different ways. From sailing to breathing to popping, the book is interesting and entertaining. Realistic illustrations include whimsical speech bubbles coming from the animals.
Comments: Although it was the title that caught my eye, this is a non-fiction book that is both informative and entertaining. It has the right balance of text and illustrations. The title will be enough to "sell" the book to second graders and up.
Extensions:
1. The author's website suggestions making bubbles(it gives a recipe) and finding household items(it gives suggestions) to use for blowing. This would be a great activity for first through third grade.
2. The author's website also provides patterns for animals from the book to use for making hats. You could use these or have the children draw their own.
